Install and assess the new system
IMPORTANT! The procedures in this document are based on the assumption that PME 8.2 is installed correctly on the new computer, and that it is in a factory default configured state. Any custom configuration that exists on the new system will be overwritten by the procedures in this document. Any configurations made to the target system might cause the migration upgrade to fail in unexpected ways.
Install Power Monitoring Expert 8.2. After installation is complete, assess the new system:
- Check a few of the basic functions such as the system log for errors, and inspect the System Configuration Report.
- Open the Web Application and ensure that there are no Dashboards and that the default Web Reports are available.
- Run the Diagnostics Tool:
...\[Install location]\Schneider Electric\Power Monitoring Expert\Diagnostics Tool\Diagnostics Tool.exe - Ensure that the remaining trial license period is sufficient for transferring the source configuration and validating the new system.
After confirming the installation is working correctly, assess whether the new system has enough available hard disk space to accommodate the PME databases and the database upgrade procedures.
IMPORTANT!
You should have at least four times the size of the PME databases in free hard disk space to allow for: backups, disk usage during the database upgrade process, and increase in the database size after the upgrade migration . Before writing a saved configuration to a PME 8.2 system, Configuration Manager performs a disk space check to ensure there is sufficient disk space for the configuration and databases. If there is not enough free disk space, Configuration Manager will display a warning.
